Look, I love vodka. You love vodka. We all love vodka. But let’s face it: it is maybe probably almost definitely frowned upon to have vodka for breakfast. Or lunch. Or anytime in-between before 5:00 p.m. Vodka with dinner? Not too out of line. But vodka for dinner? I’m pretty sure that’s only acceptable in college.
And listen – I don’t like these binding societal expectations any more than you do, but as someone who is trying real hard to maintain some semblance of having-my-shit-together, I’ve graduated from denial to the acceptance stage of “yeah ok, maybe celebrating not getting a speeding ticket with lunchtime shots on a workday isn’t the best decision.” RESPONSIBILITY. I have it (sometimes).
But, because I am relentless when it comes to things I love, I have compiled this list of vodka recipes that will allow you to enjoy our favorite distilled potato libation at any hour of the day. You can totally thank me later.
1. Pomegranate Peach Vodka Mimosas
Not only are these tasty drinks 100% appropriate for breakfast, but they also contain two different kinds of fruit, which make them healthy… that’s how that works, right? And they’re also gorgeous, which will definitely help justify the whole “I’m having vodka at 8:00 a.m.” thing.
2. Bread Pudding with Spiced Vodka Sauce
This wonderfully indulgent creation from Our Crafty Kitchen would be a perfect option for those who want something more substantial for breakfast. I also can’t help but to think how good this sauce would be over my favorite Kodiak Cakes protein waffles. Protein. Vodka. What more could you want?
3. Vodka Lemon Chicken
Maybe at this point in the day you’re needing something a little more substantial and not swimming in sugar. That’s fine, I get it – so let me introduce to you this piccata-esque Vodka Lemon Chicken. Not only does it look crazy impressive, it also comes together in under 20 minutes. Some angel hair pasta or rice to soak up that delicious vodka-y sauce would make this a perfectly respectable meal.
4. Pasta Alla Vodka
And really, who can forget a traditional creamy vodka sauce like this one whipped up by Ree of The Pioneer Woman. Maybe one of my favorite pasta sauces (a tough call, as an equal opportunity pasta lover), this recipe doesn’t skimp on vodka or flavor, and encourages the use of generous amounts of cheese – a woman after my own heart.
5. Foolproof Pie Dough
Who knew that the secret to moist, sturdy pie crust was vodka? I certainly didn’t, but that just means I know exactly what my next kitchen experiment will be. This recipe has rave reviews across the internet, and with autumn just around the corner, I think it would be the perfect accompaniment to a crumbly dutch apple pie.
